As part of the 14th German Sustainability Day, the winners of the German Sustainability Award (DNP) were announced yesterday evening in Düsseldorf. The environmentally neutral* Pro Climate product range from dm held its own in the “Design” category and won the award. “We are particularly proud to receive this great award for our pioneering and heartfelt project Pro Climate,” said Kerstin Erbe, dm Managing Director responsible for Product Management. “The award confirms our sustainable commitment and spurs us on to continue working with full commitment on sustainable projects.”
In 2021, the German Sustainability Award focused on the transformation fields of climate, resources, biodiversity, society and supply chain. The top field impressed with exemplary examples of sustainable design and was characterized by multifaceted diversity. In selecting the winners, the jury paid particular attention to their transformation potential for a sustainable future.
With its Pro Climate product range, dm-drogerie markt is currently the first company to have developed 14 dm brand products that are not only climate-neutral, but for the first time even environmentally neutral*. These include, for example, products from the private brands alverde NATURKOSMETIK, Denkmit and SUNDANCE. Together with the Technical University of Berlin and the manufacturing partners, the impact of the products on the environment was comprehensively analyzed and reduced. Remaining, unavoidable environmental impacts from the production and packaging disposal of the products are compensated by dm in no less than five environmental categories: Climate change, eutrophication, acidification, summer smog and ozone depletion. Through renaturation projects in Germany, dm is helping to restore the ecological balance in cooperation with HeimatERBE. On the shelf, the new products are very easy to identify thanks to the uniform packaging design and the eye-catching integrated Pro Climate logo. With this product line, dm is expanding its environmental promise and encouraging customers to be even more conscious of their purchases and to make their everyday lives more environmentally friendly overall. This commitment has now been recognized by the award of the German Sustainability Award.
Back in August 2021, the Pro Climate brand was named GREEN BRAND Germany. The GREEN BRAND seal of approval is awarded to brands that are committed to sustainability and environmental protection and prove this in a rigorous certification process.
The German Sustainability Award is Europe’s largest award for ecological and social commitment. It rewards pioneering contributions to the transformation toward a sustainable future. Since 2020, the award has been geared even more closely to the goals of the 2030 Agenda and thus to the key transformation fields such as climate, biodiversity, resources, fairness and society.
